Bontrup Logistics has selected Fuelre4m’s Re4mx Fueloil technology for the bulk carrier Bontrup Pearl as it supports a major climate-resilience project in the Pacific.
The voyage begins in the United Arab Emirates and carries 40,000 tonnes of rock armour for construction of a 1.8-kilometre sea wall protecting Ebeye in the Marshall Islands. The island is especially vulnerable to flooding and storm surges associated with rising sea levels.
The deployment follows a three-month trial aboard Yeoman Bridge. Early data from Bontrup Pearl also showed positive indications in vessel speed and fuel efficiency.
Previous vessel findings
- 44% reduction in NOx emissions.
- Stable operation with no disruption to engine performance.
- Verified improvement in thrust and fuel-to-power efficiency.
- Optimised engine performance at reduced load.
“Using Fuelre4m technology has already delivered measurable gains in fuel efficiency and engine performance. For long-haul operations, that reliability and saving make a real difference.”Sipke de Vries, General Manager, Bontrup Logistics
Bontrup Logistics transports more than 12 million tonnes of rock products annually. Its fleet of self-unloading bulk carriers supports large infrastructure projects in difficult and remote operating environments.
Following the Yeoman Bridge trial, deployment is expanding to additional vessels, including Bontrup Pearl, as part of Bontrup’s broader commitment to lower-impact and more efficient shipping.
